Autopsies in Graveyard Keeper 2 are straightforward until you unlock more advanced organs. While the concept of removing an organ, checking the corpse's skulls, and deciding what to do with the body remains, things get a bit more complicated with advanced organs. You will have a percentage while removing an organ, and there's some key things you need to know about this number that determines what happens next!
What Does the Tick Chance Mean in Graveyard Keeper 2?
The Tick Chance in Graveyard Keeper 2 is your chance of getting a successful tick when your Mastery level is below the level required for the organ you are trying to remove. For example, in the screenshot above, the organ requires 2 Mastery, but my current Mastery is only 1. The game calculates the Tick Chance by dividing your current Mastery by the required Mastery. So, 1 divided by 2 gives you 50%, which is the percentage shown in the screenshot.
This means every tick has a 50% chance of succeeding. In other words, every time the game checks for a tick, you have a one-in-two chance of getting a successful one. You can still remove the organ, but you can only afford one failed tick. So, when you are trying to remove something like the Skull or Heart, having a low Tick Chance makes things much harder since you need almost all of your ticks to succeed.
The unsuccessful ticks are shown in red. If you get two or more red ticks, the organ you’re trying to extract is permanently ruined, and the game gives you a Surgeon’s Error. This removes one white skull and one red skull from the corpse’s overall skull rating. You also won’t be able to use that corpse to make a zombie.
Apart from autopsies, the Tick Chance system is also used in farming. For example, if a seed requires 10 Farming Mastery and you have 6, each tick has a 60% chance of succeeding.
