Spider-Man: Brand New Day is reportedly heading back to cinemas with new footage, including scenes cut from its original release and a familiar face.
Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film opened on July 31, 2026 to huge success. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, it follows Peter Parker as he tries to build a life after the events of No Way Home left the people closest to him unable to remember who he is.
Audiences turned out in huge numbers with Brand New Day making nearly $2.5 billion worldwide, and making it the highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office. However, despite the fact that it's still playing in some cinemas, a re-release with additional scenes is already reportedly being planned.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day re-release could restore Claire Temple scene
According to Deadline, a re-release is on the way, filled with extra footage that “includes, but is not limited to, Rosario Dawson’s character Claire Temple.” There will also be “more surprises in the extra footage,” though it has not identified any other details on the upcoming scenes.
Many fans of the MCU may recognize Claire as the nurse who treats injured vigilantes. Dawson played her in Daredevil and several other Marvel TV series, including Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. She previously revealed that she filmed a scene for Brand New Day, but it did not make the theatrical cut so it's likely that the re-release would give audiences their first look at it.
Marvel has just taken a similar approach with Avengers: Endgame Encore. Its Infinity Vision screenings include six minutes and 17 seconds of extra footage connected to Avengers: Doomsday, while screenings outside IMAX and Infinity Vision include two minutes and six seconds.
That raises the possibility that Brand New Day’s new scenes could also help set up Doomsday after the fact. For now, that is speculation, as Deadline has not said whether the other footage connects to the next Avengers film.
There is no confirmed date for the re-release, and it is unclear how much footage will be added, as Sony has not announced the plans publicly.
